Officiants

From Humanists, to Celebrants, to interfaith ministers, to DJs who are also wedding ministers, to rock 'n' roll reverends who will read your vows from The Princess Bride... these are our favorite offbeat wedding officiants.

Savannah Custom Weddings & Elopements

I am not your ordinary Southeastern wedding officiant, and that is by design and circumstance. I decided to become an officiant in 2014 when I couldn’t find someone to officiate my own wedding. I wanted someone experienced, independent from a church, who had a modern and creative vibe to her and offered ceremony content focused on romance, adventure & teamwork.

Moon River Rituals with Zita Christian, Life-Cycle Celebrant

Destiny is a wide road. Whatever path you traveled, Moon River Rituals celebrates the love that brought the two of you to this rite of passage. I write that story of your journey and weave it into the ceremony. For the couple, hearing their love story creates a prelude for making their vows. For their families, hearing the love story assures them that their sons and/or daughters truly love and are truly loved.

Magical Weddings by Carly

Gender non-conforming, intersectional feminist, geek, nerd, Hufflepuff, dog parent seeks same (or completely different!) people in need of a wedding officiant. Secular, spiritual, or religious; all genders, sexualities, and relationship styles (including ethical non-monogamy) welcomed and celebrated! I’m an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church, have a Masters degree from Duke Divinity School, and am certified through the Equality Institute’s LGBT+ Wedding Course. I provide elopement, wedding, and vow renewal services to people all across North Carolina.

Michele Zipp, Ritualist

I am a non-denominational Ordained Minister, Reiki Master, writer, and love storyteller. In 2011, my best friends asked me to officiate their wedding and that began my journey into this ritual. More friends asked. Friends of friends asked. And then word spread and I met with couples who became new friends. I love the ritual of weddings and the magic of ceremony.

Arwen Freer, Minister

I believe that love is love, and, for me, there is no higher calling than joining together people who are committed to loving each other; and I believe everyone should be able to have a ceremony that reflects their own style and interests. Every relationship is unique, so I customize every ceremony script to match the individuals' understanding of love and commitment, within their chosen beliefs.

Universal Life Church

When it comes time to choose an officiant, would you rather put your trust in a stranger you found online, or a person you know and love? Since there’s no shortage of cringeworthy stories out there about awkward wedding officiants botching the ceremony, we’re here to offer a better option. Instead of picking a wildcard out of the officiant deck, why not have a friend or family member perform the ceremony?

Reverend Katherine

I started doing weddings because my BFF from our childhood Girl Scout troop asked me to. I kept doing weddings because I LOVE weddings. And I'm great at them. I want every wedding I go to to be an amazing, hilarious, sacred, musical, gorgeous, fun, awe-inspiring testimony to love. I started kept doing weddings so that more would be that way.

The Reverend D

I know exactly what it's like to wander from the beaten wedding aisle and I love helping other brides create their own unique traditions. I go out of my way to make the process fun and stress-free, and I am open to any ideas you're willing to throw at me. Because at the end of the day, *you* are what will make your wedding unique. So essentially, my job is to help you express you.
