Kat-Justin-Persimmon-ImagesWe're Kat and Justin, the husband-and-wife team behind Persimmon Images. We're best friends, hiking partners, and aspiring world-travelers. He's a whiz in the kitchen, a rock climber, and a hematology-oncology nurse practitioner. She's a gardener, a long-distance cyclist, a meditating Buddhist, and a former Wedding Bee blogger. We're crazy, we're adventurous, and we collect new experiences like some people hoard cats.

We believe in photography that captures who you are and how you love each other. Nothing forced, nothing fake, and nothing cheesy (unless it's funny-ironic-intentional cheesy). We think you deserve photographers who "get" you and, not only that, photographers who can capture your affection and joy, and all the funny quirks of the person you fell in love with so that you can always appreciate each other when you see the gorgeous images we make together. We know that most people haven't had professional photos taken before and we consider it our job to make the experience one you'll remember as hilarious, awesome, and emotional. Our style is handmade, heartfelt, and all about the connection you share.

To us, weddings are about the birth of a new family and regardless of sexual orientation, age, or ethnicity, our goal is to document the awesome momentousness of this great event in living color. We don't think weddings fit neatly into hourly chunks of photography, so when we're there for your wedding, we're really THERE: To photograph the entire day, to celebrate alongside you, and to make sure you get to enjoy your own party with picture-perfect proof that you did, to boot.

Our studio, Persimmon Images, is based in Washington state but we'll travel anywhere and climb on anything for that one amazing shot. We work with a limited number of couples each year to give each of you one unforgettable experience and the highest quality of service. We are proud to call our clients our friends, and we hope to count you among them.

How I cater to Offbeat Brides

Life isn’t “One Size Fits All” and neither are you. Your wedding shouldn’t be limited by tradition (though feel free to start one yourselves!), but be a custom-tailored, heartfelt expression of love … and a kickass party to boot. We want to be there every step of the way. Drive to Montana and down miles of dirt road to photograph a wedding? We’ve done that. Hike a mile up a muddy mountain trail to capture a handfasting? That too. Snap a standing-room-only ceremony in a dark bar with a Blues Brothers groom and retro rock-n-roll bride? Yup. Shoot a ren-faire costume ceremony that wedded an elf bride to a kingly groom, complete with a sword fight and pig roast? Yuuuuuup. We’re down for just about anything, classic or contemporary, weird or wild, that you can dream up.

You're different? We're different. Let's show the world how awesome different can be.

"You two did a phenomenal job! We didn't realize getting photographed could be so much fun! Your attention to detail and creativity was apparent throughout the course of the wedding day. Eli and I have been so impressed by your photos, packaging, professionalism, and kindness." -Andrea + Eli

All our Offbeat couples will get a bonus custom-made, lay-flat engagement album, so you can ogle gorgeous pics before the wedding! And if you're in Seattle, Justin will cook us all a fantastic dinner to celebrate. No joke.

WE LOVE LOVE! To celebrate the legality of marriage equality in Washington State, we are offering $500 off any wedding photography collection to same-sex couples for the entirety of 2014. Congratulations to you!

Examples of my work

Previously featured on Offbeat Bride:

From our blog:

  • Christen + Leigh: An epic Hawaiian island-style destination wedding with retro fashion, sea-turtles, pinky-swearing, a TARDIS cameo, and karaoke at the Mauna Lani Bay. I feel sunshiny-warm just thinking about it!
  • Erica + Eric: Imagine a Blues Brothers rock-n-roll wedding. Got it? Now go see it. Erica and Eric celebrated in style (down to the white socks) at Ballard's Bal Mar bar, making for one unforgettable evening.
  • Jessica + Steven: Don't miss this DIY downtown tour-de-Seattle. Jessica and Steven were married in the amazing Hotel 1000 atrium, but not before we visited the Seattle Art Museum for a gorgeous first look, and the Public Library for fantastic portraits.
  • Kyle + Blue: Elf ears and blue hair, knights in shining armor, roast pig, sword fights, and honey mead… this bride and groom had it all in their rural-pastured, fantasy-themed wedding.
