De Nueva Photography

Hi, I’m Nicki of De Nueva Photography! As an NYC Elopement Photographer and Offbeat Wedding Photographer since 2007, I’ve photographed the weddings of hundreds of awesome couples from around the globe. My mission is to capture your unique story in the most genuine, vibrant and fun way possible. I believe getting your photo taken with the love of your life should be enjoyable, not stressful. End of story.

I strive for even the most camera shy “photo-phobic” person to have a great time getting their wedding photos taken. My goal is to capture whatever makes you and your love story unique while also making sure you feel as comfortable as possible in front of the camera. No weird stiff poses, no fake smiles. I’m a photographer that likes to laugh with my clients and will let you be yourselves, whatever fun quirks that might entail. I offer enough direction so you don’t feel awkward, but not so much that you feel fake and pose-y. My ultimate goal is to capture you being YOU. From tender moments to laughter to busting a move on the dance floor and all the candid moments in between, I’ve got you covered.

I’m based in NYC, work often in Minneapolis, MN and am available for travel worldwide. I also use my creative powers for good running an earth friendly business and giving back to social justice causes.

How I cater to offbeat weddings

I love working with offbeat couples! I got my start working with couples from Offbeat Bride in 2007 and many of my wedding couples still find me here. Photographing all sorts of weddings with all kinds of people from every possible background is why I love this job. In addition to shooting big weddings, I also specialize as an NYC Elopement Photographer. I think couples should have the wedding THEY want. Is that a big wedding? Awesome. A tiny elopement with no guests? Perfect. You do you. No matter how you want to tie the knot, from the top of Rockefeller Center to City Hall to your own backyard or anywhere in between, I’m there.

Whether getting hitched to the love of your life involves getting married barefoot in a field, on a mountain top, doing a high falls stunt (yes, this is something that has happened!) or choregraphing a sword duel I’ll be there to document it. Whatever you can think up, whatever represents you, I promise to bring you vibrant, joyful and colorful photos that capture the day. I strive to photograph people being their authentic self while celebrating their own unique love story, no matter what that looks like.

Additionally, I try to use my creative powers for good:

* I donate a portion of my business earnings each month to various social justice causes and non-profit organizations and make additional contributions for each big wedding booked.
* I run as green a business as possible with earth friendly materials, electronic contracts, and a Forestry Stewardship Council approved photo lab.
* As an LGBTQ friendly photographer, I fully support marriage equality, always ask for pronouns, and make sure all my client materials are gender neutral.

“We cannot speak highly enough of Nicki! She is a wealth of knowledge and the most open, flexible, generous, and lovely person to interact and communicate with. Just as important, she is also extremely talented! We are so very pleased with our photos: they are so personal, really capture our emotions, and are just beautiful images as well. I am so happy we chose Nicki - she really made our day and our memories of it just perfect!
-Jess and Justin

“Nicki is amazing! She’s incredible to work with, has a fantastic eye and a laid back demeanor that gets the best out of her subjects. My husband and I felt so relaxed around with her it felt like an old friend was taking our photos and because of this, there’s not one photo in which either of us looks uncomfortable or has a stilted smile on our face. Everything with her felt effortless, from choosing areas in NYC to serve as a backdrop for photos (we eloped), and she came to our rescue by serving as witness when our best friends forgot their passports back at the hotel! Nicki was so calm when the rest of our nerves were bordering on frayed, her easy-going nature made it easy to get centered again.” –Karen & Mo
