Ceremonies By Katherine - Interfaith Wedding Officiant

I get it. You don’t want your guests sitting through the same ceremony they’ve heard time and time again, glancing at their phones to see how much time is left before cocktail hour starts…

Every couple has a story and I want to tell yours in a way that is romantic, memorable, engaging, and yes… even funny! My passion is writing custom ceremonies that share your love story: how you met and fell in love, what you admire about each other, and what you are looking forward to about your life together. Your relationship is one-of-a-kind and you deserve a ceremony that honors the love you share and the commitment you are making. And bonus! Your guests will be gushing about your ceremony – not just the big party.

A good officiant does so much more than read the words off a page. They set the tone and create an atmosphere for this huge, transformational moment in your life. Through telling your story, I leave your guests with a new, deeper understanding of why you are perfect for each other. I help you express what marriage and love mean to you as a couple. I will help you find the words that fit you, your relationship, and your beliefs, whether they come from readings, poems, sacred texts, or custom writing.

A good officiant should be interested in you, invested in your love, and should ENJOY working with you! Having someone with you who respects your beliefs and your life choices is essential at such an impactful moment. It is my promise that I will listen to your desires, answer your questions, and address your concerns. I am committed to making your vision for your wedding ceremony become a reality. As an Interfaith Wedding Officiant, I have no limitations on my ordination that prevent me from marrying couples due to their religious beliefs or who they choose to love.

I serve the Raleigh-Durham area, but am happy to travel. Please inquire for travel fees and arrangements.

How I cater to Offbeat Brides

I come to every meeting from a place of “YES!” and am so genuinely excited when couples want to bring their personalities, interests, histories, hobbies, cultural traditions, and unique ideas into their wedding ceremony. A common theme you’ll see in my reviews is, “She didn’t think our ideas were crazy!”

You have an Avengers theme and you want me to wear an eye patch and black suit? Yes!

You’re chemists and you want to perform an experiment in the middle of the ceremony? Fun!

Star Trek theme and you want me to close with “Live Long and Prosper”? Done.

You like taking chances and want to break a wishbone to see who gets their ring first? Heck yeah.

A surprise wedding your guests don’t know about? I’m there! (hiding in a back closet until it’s time to come out)

Your dog is your ring bearer? Won’t be my first time!

These are all actual examples of offbeat weddings I have had the pleasure of officiating.

Maybe you know you want to make your day unique, original, and memorable, but you just don’t know how! Or where to start?! I am here to guide you and together we will create something awesome.

I offer also “nontraditional” premarital coaching via an online portal with emailed feedback and activities. The initial assessment gets right to the heart of your relationship, eliminating the need for multiple sessions with a traditional counselor. And I have found that by sharing the info via email and letting couples complete the activities together on their own time (versus during a meeting with me there), it takes a lot of the "pressure" off and makes it a more enjoyable process for you both.

“My husband and I can't express enough how wonderful Katherine is. She is one of the nicest and sweetest people you will ever meet. She made everything so easy and simple for us. She helped us create an incredibly meaningful, customized ceremony that helped reflect both of our backgrounds…” – Priya and Peyton Moser

Examples of my work

As an interfaith officiant, I have experience marrying many couples of different faiths and cultures. Some of these include Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Pagan, Hindu, as well as non-religious couples.

My offbeat couples sometimes choose non-traditional locations for their nuptials. A few examples: a crossfit gym in front of the weight benches, Durham Bulls baseball stadium right under the giant Wool E. Bull sign, the Museum of Life and Science surrounded by dinosaurs, the rooftop deck at a downtown Raleigh nightclub. I hope I can keep adding to this list!
